YANGSHI LEI SCREENING AND TALK—YANGSHI LEI AND QING IMPERIAL GARDEN

Generations of scholars have dedicated themselves to the diligent research of the yangshi Lei Archives since the 1930s. Continuing the legacy of his predecessors, Professor Zhang Fengwu will delve into the development of yangshi Lei and its close connection with the imperial gardens. Through his presentation, he will also share insights into the craftsmanship involved and fascinating research anecdotes.

The talk will be livestreamed on the online platforms of the HKPM WeChat Video Account, as well as Museum Headlines.

Zhang Fengwu (Associate Professor, School of Architecture, Tianjin University)

Zhang Fengwu is associate professor of the School of Architecture and the Deputy Director of the Institute of Architectural History and Theory at Tianjin University. His research expertise is in architectural history and theory as well as architectural heritage preservation, with a focus on the yangshi Lei archives and imperial gardens. Zhang has participated in over twenty projects organised by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other major institutions. He has authored more than thirty papers published in core Chinese journals. Additionally, he has overseen the preservation of more than ten architectural heritage projects. Zhang’s contributions have been recognised with two first prizes and one second prize from the “Tianjin Haihe Cup Excellent Survey and Design Award”, as well as the “Science and Technology Progress Award” of the Ministry of Education.
